This smoothie is one of the oldie but goldie recipe in my recipe book. When I first started my healthy lifestyle journey, this creamy beauty was among the first healthy smoothies I ever made. It was a quite rudimental recipe comparing with smoothies I make now but most importantly it was and still is very healthy smoothie recipe. Being a complete smoothie noobie back then, this creation was something I was very proud.
Over the years, as my healthy eating evolved, I’ve discovered many new healthy ingredients that I started using for making healthy smoothies. Also, I discovered many new delicious flavor combos and superfoods that uplifted my smoothies to another level. So with my smoothie making skills thus this Ginger Banana Smoothie evolved too.
That’s why I’ve chosen this healthy ginger banana smoothie to be the first recipe I will republish on my blog, with new photos and new upgraded formula.
Well, if you’re following my blog, then you know I’m a huge fan of ginger. Its taste is just mind-blowing and health benefits beyond words amazing. That’s why I use ginger a lot, in a broad range of my recipes. From soups to salads. I use ginger in making desserts too. Just take a look at these delicious Carrot Cake Muffins or these Orange Carrot Cookies and try to stay cool. Yes, precisely!
I can assure you that there’s no flavor in the world quite like ginger. It’s zesty and biting yet somewhat sweet. It’s quite pungent and spicy but again mild and not overwhelming at all.
If you think ginger is one strange ingredient to put in a smoothie, well think again. Ginger pairs well with a broad range of other flavors. Spicy flavorful ginger and sweet banana are perfect pair – a really excellent combo. Add to that many health benefits that ginger has, and you’ll realize this isn’t an ordinary smoothie at all.
How to make Ginger Banana Smoothie
To make this deliciousness you’ll need only a few ingredients. It’s the easiest smoothie recipe in the world, believe me. As a base, I used organic soy milk because it’s naturally sweeter but you can definitely substitute it with almond milk. I haven’t added any extra sugars in the smoothie. No need really. Ripe banana gave enough sweetness. Smoothie is flavored with a bit of vanilla and of course, the main star is super-spice GINGER.
The original recipe basically ended here – with just banana, milk, vanilla, and ginger. But over years I enhanced the recipe with some more healthy goodies and SUPERFOODS.
Just recently I discovered amazing baobab powder. Citrusy and loaded with nutrients baobab powder boosted this banana smoothie to a whole new level, adding fibers and a whole lot of vitamin C – a powerful antioxidant and immune booster. I also added hemp seeds for healthy fats and protein boost.
Coconut yogurt is all responsible for amazing smoothie creaminess. But yogurt added some gut-friendly probiotics too, transforming this smoothie into a powerful metabolism-boosting drink. That’s why this Ginger Banana Smoothie is perfect on-to-go breakfast.
Ginger and banana, milk and yogurt, powerful superfoods and seed, boosted this banana smoothie into nutritious delicious goodness. Flavorful, fragrant, and super tasty this creamy beauty will definitely delight you as it still delights me after many years of making it.
