Oh Gosh, what a year that was… 2018. Right?! Dunno ’bout you, but my year was hectic, crazy, challenging and beyond words AMAZING. It was a year of big changes in my private life and my blogging life. I’m so grateful for the blessings of healthiness, happiness and the life filled with love. I’m also grateful for the chance to have this business I really enjoy and love doing.
But I’ll remember 2018 for one thing that’s sure. And that’s CHANGE! Last year we moved from a small village where we lived to the capital city, and this Christmas we moved to a completely different country. HUGE change. But we love and enjoy every bit of this new life.
So, in that spirit – happy, excited and super-positive, it’s only fair I start the new year with one of my favorite recipe for my favorite hot super-drink. You’ve seen me post it on my Instagram like zillions of time. I can’t stop praising this drink. Yup, it was about time I hand you the secret recipe for this amazing antioxidant-rich drink.
This steaming hot Matcha Green Tea Latte is one cozy drink perfect for cold mornings and lazy afternoons. It’s super easy to make, and its creaminess and flavor is just amazing. + It’s loaded with so much healthiness that I can’t sum up in one post. But will try.
If you tried my very popular Iced Coconut Matcha Latte, and you’ve liked it, then you KNOW this Matcha Latte recipe is pretty incredible and a must try too. The only difference between these two drinks is in flavor… and in its warmth and frothiness. This Matcha Green Tea Latte is steaming hot, mildly sweet and deliciously creamy.
While Iced Matcha Latte is cooling and great to have during hot summer days, hot Matcha Green Tea Latte is just ideal for colder fall and winter days… although I do drink it throughout the whole year, no matter the outside temperatures.
Matcha Green Tea Latte is my perfect replacement for coffee. I love Iced Coffee Protein Shake and Coffee Breakfast Smoothie but my tummy sometimes can’t stand caffeine. Thus Matcha Green Tea helps with keeping my brain boosted and super-charged for everyday mental work.
How is that? Well, Matcha Green Tea is loaded with a substance called L-Theanine. This important amino acid reduces mental stress, enhance your mood and performance, and create a calm-yet-alert state of mind. It has a similar effect on your body as caffeine but in a milder, more calming way.
Basically, it wakes me up gently and keeps me awake for hours – without a sudden crash of energy later in the day. And what I love about Matcha Green Tea the most is that it doesn’t give me that “nervous energy” that caffeine sometimes does. + Matcha Green Tea is completely tummy friendly.
Many who tried making Matcha Latte at home may have ended being disappointed with its taste. Some of my friends said to me they didn’t quite like that leafy flavor. The taste to them was bitter and not nearly so nice as they expected. Well, the secret is not only in the quality of Matcha Green Tea powder – from which Matcha Latte is made but also in the choice of MILK.
I’ve tried so many milk and various combos. Turned out that the perfect milk for perfect Matcha Green Tea Latte is Soy Milk – I always use Organic Soy Milk. Alpro is my favorite brand.
Organic Soy Milk has more buttery, rich and sweet flavor then other milk alternatives have. It also has a creamier consistency, which makes him good coffee creamer and GREAT for making frothy drinks.
So for making this incredibly healthy, delicious, brain-boosting frothy drink you’ll only need a few simple but quality ingredients.
The quality of Matcha Green Powder is crucial for the overall taste of this drink, so don’t go cheap when choosing the right matcha powder. I always use highest ceremonial grade matcha because I love my matcha strong and powerful but also sweet tasting. Not bitter, leafy and grassy.
You can always add some sweetener to your latte – if you prefer a sweeter drink. Pure maple syrup or mild tasting honey are the best. BUT you can easily skip added sugars if you got the right milk and green tea powder, as I mentioned. But I encourage you to try without added sugars and experience the TRUE MATCHA unbelievable taste.
To make this latte even more flavorful, I added a hint of vanilla too. But even without it, it tastes pretty darn AWESOME.
