    Motivation Monday #7

    Published: Sep 5, 2016 · Updated: Nov 9, 2017 by Natalie · Leave a Comment

Hi, guys! Happy new week to you all ;)

Hope you had a great weekend and that you recharged your batteries to full. It's Monday, and it's time to jump happily into another busy week ahead us. In Croatia, school is starting this Monday. For first graders, today is a special day too - the first day of school. The excitement is tremendous. We have little first grader so we couldn't wait for this Monday for the school to begin :)

How to make your kids eat healthy

The start of the new school year, it's a good time to introduce new healthy eating habits to your children. If this seems like mission impossible, know that children adopt new things much easier than we adults, especially if new things are engaging and fun. In that process, it's important not to force kids into new food. You have to have patience. It's the best to show your children with your own example that healthy food is not only good for us but also tasty and very cool ;)

The key to success in having your children eat a healthier food lies in the fact that you just don't forbid children anything. Don't make restrictions. Offer your kids a healthier food presented in a fun more interesting way. Explain to them why this food is healthy or healthier for them. Make up a story about, for example, Uncle Protein who builds our body and muscles. Or about little Miss Fishy which is full of healthy omega-3 fats which make our brains smarter. Children are naturally curious and love to learn about new things. Help them understand what and why they eat. Teach them about food.

When a child tries something new, you should compliment them and be enthusiastic about it. That way the child will connect that food with positive emotion. It will soon get used to the new taste and won't ask for some unhealthy alternative. It's important to introduce new food to your children gradually and to motivate them to try something new constantly. But don't force things. If he/she doesn't like it, give a try some other time. Also, be creative in the preparation and decoration of your children's meals. For example, use spices to naturally color the food, or prepare healthy sandwiches for school lunch in various forms by using molds.

If you have already considered changing your kids eating habits, beginning of new school year may be the perfect day to start. Arm yourself with patience and start the change. Healthy parents, healthy children. This is my message for you today. Set a good example to your children and they will follow you. I tell you all this from my own experience, having a seven-year-old picky eater. Two years ago my kid wouldn't eat anything but turkey meat, rice, and French fries.Today he eats my meatballs, kebabs, healthy apple carrot muffins, and lots of other things. And we are working everyday on creating a good relationship with veggies :D

Happy FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! :)

I send you lots of kisses. Till next Monday...

    Love,
