You know what, I'm an overthinker. I've always been an overthinker and sometimes I really hate my brain for that. You know that feeling when you have a goal in your mind and you take all the necessary steps only to everything fall apart. It makes you give up on everything, right? It's a struggle and it's very demoralizing. I've been in that vicious circle of trying and giving up. I wanted to lose weight for so many years. I committed so many times to that idea but in all the process of reading about it, discussing it, and thinking about it, I've missed out on the most essential part of the whole process - and that's the EXECUTION.
Why is it that we do this? Why do we overthink and not do anything about achieving our goals? I believe it’s our hesitation towards action. We are constantly doing everything but taking action. And I believe that's because of the fear and self-doubt. Which is completely normal. But we can't let that completely ruin our happiness.
Today I’m very proud of my weight loss and my lifestyle change. But I'm equally, if not more, proud of what all the amazing things I've accomplished in that process.
I came to realize that only thing standing between my dream and my reality is ACTION. It’s not necessarily easy to take that action but its' really THAT simple…
Here's a simple 5 step formula to start being more PROACTIVE in life.
1 . Tell yourself and you can change who you are.
The way you see yourself has a huge impact on your action-taking. If you see yourself as a person who lacks a confidence or has poor self-esteem, if you're fearful and full of doubts all the time - that won't get you anywhere. You need to banish that person from your mind. You need to realize that YOU CAN CHANGE - no matter who you are now.
2. Set your goals.
After changing the way you perceive yourself, you need to set a goal you want to accomplish that are clearly definable and with some recognizable milestones. Start from the end result and examine step by step what you need to do to achieve that goal. What do you need to do first to get started? What’s the easiest thing you can do right away?
3. Focus and start seeking opportunities to achieve your goals.
To activate your mindset for success, you have to focus and start seeking out opportunities that will take you closer to your goal. It’s something like brain exercise designed to help you identify ways of taking action. Find the target and set yourself in hunting mode.
4. Take action.
Once you’ve found your target, then all you need to do is execute and take action. If you end up with too many options to choose from, you may become paralyzed and end up making no decision at all. To avoid that trap of endless circle of inaction simply go with the first opportunity you come across. Throw yourself into chaos and learn your way to achieving your goals.
5. Keep taking action.
After you’ve taken action once, you need to do it again and again. The more action you take, the more you’ll start taking action. The action builds motivation and motivation builds more action. This is where consistency and practice are crucial. Building the proactivity mindset requires you to work. This proactivity will eventually kill all your fears and self-doubts and you will build some confidence. You can then go to the next level - you will start focusing only on things that will give you most results.
--- What action will you take today to move closer to your dreams?
Until next time, stay HAPPY and healthy.
