Health is our greatest wealth, and good nutrition is an essential part of leading a healthy life. Today I talk about healthy food choices and share some tips how to achieve that good happy health. + Pick up some motivation with today's quote!
Happy Monday guys!!! It's first Monday of the new month, and what better way to celebrate that fact rather than with some motivational quote. NEW Monday Motivation post is coming up, and today I'm talking about health and how good it feels to be HEALTHY.
I know you probably won't believe me when I say that nothing and I seriously mean NOTHING feels better than being healthy.
NOT a slice of cheesecake.
NOR the bag of chips.
Nothing.
Health is our greatest wealth, and I think no one can deny the importance of good health in on our life. If the person is unhealthy, there’s nothing much that he could do to be productive in life. Priorities suddenly change: everyday life, hobbies, and other endeavors seem to fade in the background at a fast rate when you are sick. Even caring for our children or nurturing our relationships become difficult. Priorities turn upside down, and everything becomes one big mess.
So doesn’t it make sense to make our health our number one priority? Off course it does.
A few years back I was in a situation where I pushed my body to an edge of disease. I was one step away from getting seriously ill for good. I was morbidly obese. I completely neglected my body. My unhealthy eating habits and unhealthy lifestyle started disrupting my health. (You can read my weightloss story HERE)
My body began signalizing me that there's something seriously BAD going on. Metabolism and other problems appeared, and finally, my junky rampage got me sick. Luckily it was nothing serious, but my life at that point was awful.
I picked up these signals and take them very seriously. I stopped feeding my emotions with sugary treats and junk food, got my detox and cleansing mode on, and started recovering - healing my body with REAL HEALTHY FOOD. Wake up call got me on the right track - I started eating healthy and exercising, changed my life and lost serious weight.
Today I can proudly say I'm still on that track - feeling healthier and happier than ever. I'm keeping my healthy weight without even trying.
I did LEARN something from that experience - I never EVER want to feel this sick again. With good nutrition and healthy diet, for the first time in my life, I have the energy to do everything I need to do - effortlessly. I'm bursting with energy and life.
After I experienced all the GREAT stuff that I got in return for eating healthy food, I don't want to go back to old habits.
And you know what?! Just the thought of any junk food is just repulsive to me today because I KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE SICK and feel unhealthy and unhappy.
Along the way, I've learned that there's basically five pillars of good health.
Here's how can you make health your greatest wealth?
Make a healthy eating your priority.
Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and it promotes your overall health. Be wise and choose food that will nourish and benefit your body. Skip cheating meals and junky treats.
Drink more water.
Drinking more water has obvious benefits. It cleans up your skin, flushes your body of toxins, keeps your muscles happy... the list goes on and on. I’ve written about the importance of drinking more water HERE and what's helping me keep my body hydrated HERE.
Get more sleep.
Good night sleep is essential for our health too. The thing with sleeping is - not everyone needs the same amount of sleep so figure out how much you need and make sure you are giving your body that.
Find your exercise.
Same as sleeping - it’s different for everybody. Find what gets you moving and active. It doesn’t have to be high intensity.
Do what you love.
Find a hobby or something that keeps you challenged, engaged and interested. It will boost your happiness, and that will affect your health greatly.
---- Most people who have banished all processed junk from their diets, and lives, come to realize that NOTHING tastes as good as HEALTHY FEELS. And that doesn't mean we self-deny pleasures. Actually, I think we enjoy life even more.
Until next time, stay HAPPY and healthy.
Xoxo, Natalie
