Baked Double Chocolate Banana Donuts

Deliciously moist and fluffy baked whole wheat Double Chocolate Banana Donuts infused with warm spices and topped with melted dark chocolate are utterly irresistible! These are made with all healthy ingredients, very nutritious and contains no refined sugars!

It seems, there’s no end to my chocolate cravings. After Valentine’s dinner and overindulging in  Cocoa Pomegranate Brownies, I continue to crave for everything chocolate. I blame gloomy February for that. Anyway, in Croatia, in February, right after Valentine’s Day, we celebrate carnival festival. It’s tradition to wear masks during this cheerful festival and to bake and eat lots and lots of donuts. Last year I baked Cinnamon Vanilla Donuts, and this year I decided to whip up the CHOCOLATE ones for my sweet little Spiderman and my brave Mr. Han Solo … and for myself – Mrs. Padme, of course. And so I made this chocolate splendor rich in bittersweet cocoa – banana flavor, enriched with aromatic spice – cinnamon, and covered with silky melted dark chocolate. OMG… did I just say that?! I’m drooling.

These Chocolate Banana Donuts may look like they are full of calories, but there are NOT. The catch is that these donuts are made with all healthy wholesome ingredients, without refined sugar. Also these donuts are baked in the oven without added unhealthy fats. Perfect, right ?!

For making these Chocolate Banana Donuts, I used whole wheat flour rich in nutrients – fibers, super healthy coconut oil and raw cocoa. I also used Ceylon cinnamon known for its healthy benefits. Cinnamon enriched donuts with beautiful fragrance and warm aroma. Donuts are made without refined sugar – they are naturally sweetened with ripe banana and date syrup. Also, I added some Greek yogurt in the mixture which gave dough perfect soft texture and a bit protein kick.

I dipped Chocolate Banana Donuts in melted dark chocolate (made with 80% raw cocoa, without sugar) and topped with crushed raw cocoa beans – a powerful antioxidant, full of magnesium, iron, zinc and fibers. Raw cocoa beans enriched donuts with nutrients and made it even healthier. If you want more protein boost, you can use chia seeds instead of cocoa beans. Or why not use both!

  14. These donuts look gorgeous. I can only imagine how delicious they are! Banana + chocolate is a win win combo!

  15. Typically I’m a savory, spicy person versus a sweet one. Boy! That doesn’t sound right, does it? What I mean to say is that I usually go for the meat, salad, and sides rather than sweets but my mouth is watering looking at your chocolate bits on tip of the donuts. They are a certain temptation and I wouldn’t mind enjoying one right now.

    • Yeah I’m like that too. Not much of sweet tooth, but whenever I make donuts (especially chocolate ones) I’m first in grabbing them from the table 😀 Dunno why hehe

  16. They look great! Chocolate and banana are my Mom’s two favorite sweet flavors, she’d be thrilled to see these donuts on the table.

  20. No one stops me from doughnuts and chocolate!

  21. I’m so with you on the addiction thing! Well, maybe addiction is a strong word. 🙂 Whenever there’s a holiday of sorts, I allow myself a few treats and to step away from my diet for the day or for the weekend, but it’s always so hard to get back. And, Valentine’s Day wasn’t the bad day for me; I’m still trying to recover from Christmas! And, here’s these donuts staring me in the face. So not helping, Natalie! 🙂

  22. I don’t normally like doughnuts – I find them too greasy and heavy, and generally not that tasty. But these? Oh, these sound amazing! And they look downright beautiful with that chocolate glaze.

  23. I have been seeing your donuts on the social media and every time I was tempted to just grab one from the screen. I am greatly addicted when it comes to particular food and donuts are my weakness. I love the texture of your baked donuts and I guess it is time for me to buy a donut pan.

  24. These look so amazing and I love the fact that they are baked, healthy and made using whole wheat flour. Saving to try soon.

  25. Oh, my! I don’t often drool when I see donuts, but boy, these are out of this world. You had me at double chocolate. Add banana and that’s it, I must have these bad boys right now. The fact that they are baked is an added bonus, just brilliant!

  26. You sound like my husband! No matter how much chocolate he consumes, he will always want MORE. It’s a problem for sure. 😉 Thankfully I don’t have that problem by default… because I’m allergic to cocoa (which is both a blessing and a curse, depending how you look at it). Anyways, the hubs would absolutely LOVE these donuts, girl! I mean DOUBLE chocolate!? That’s totally speaking his language! Cheers!

    • Hahah chocolate is chocolate, everything else is just the food. I’m a TRUE fan! 😀 Awwww I’m so sorry to hear about your allergy, Chey. But how do you endure cravings? You must have cravings for chocolate?
