    Published: Sep 1, 2016 · Updated: May 28, 2017 by Natalie · 12 Comments

This quick and easy, super healthy Blackberry Chia Seed Jam is rich in nutrients, pectin-free, and contains only natural ingredients. It's also low in sugar, packed with proteins and fibers which make this jam a delicious and healthy breakfast or snack.

Remember the story about my dear friend Marina who gave me beautiful raspberries a few weeks ago, and I made Raspberry Lemon Cake? Well, my friend Marina in her garden grows beautiful blackberries too. Blackberries are now in season, so Marina gave me a few scoops of freshly picked blackberries for me to try. I immediately made family favorite blackberry chia seed jam, which recipe I share with you today.

It only takes few ingredients - fresh (or frozen) blackberries, a little syrup (or honey), lemon juice, vanilla extract, chia seeds and about 15 minutes to make this beautiful jam. Chia seeds enriched jam with healthy omega-3 fatty acids, plant based proteins and fibers and turned this jam in a super nutritious meal. Jam contains minimum added sugars, and it's super low in calories. Instead of refined sugars, I used agave syrup which is healthier and has the neutral flavor, but you can replace syrup with any natural sweetener - like honey, stevia etc. I also added a bit of vanilla extract to the mixture. Vanilla gave the jam a pleasant scent and warm aroma which paired nicely with tangy blackberries. Unlike store bought products, this blackberry chia seed jam is made with 100% fruit and contains no additives or preservatives - it's pectin free. Because of that, it has a short expiry date, so make sure you keep the jam refrigerated and use within a two weeks. Honestly, a jar doesn't last long in my house. We eat it like instantly :D

I'm not a fan of piling jars in the pantry, so that's why I always prepare my jams like this - I made them fresh from seasonal or frozen fruits. The great thing about it is that each time you make a new jar of jam, you can add different spices and combine different fruits, so you always have something new and exciting on the table.

This blackberry chia seed jam is the perfect breakfast for your kiddos who needs a healthy and nutritious meal before going to school. It pairs well with nut butter - like peanut butter. Omnomnom yummy :) Spread the blackberry chia seed jam on whole wheat toast or pancake or add in yogurt or smoothie. Just so many tasty ways to have a healthy snack.

How could I forget your raspberry lemon cake? :) It looked so good, Natalie. Better than cake. ;) Meanwhile, your friend Marina is the best! Does she happen to have an extra few fruits for me? Hehe. While I dream about that, I have no choice to also dream about this blackberry chia seed jam. I was just craving chia jam, and voila: here it is! The color of this is absolutely gorgeous, my friend. Sharing and pinning, of course. Have a wonderful weekend! xoxo
